What Is PAT Testing & Is It A Legal Requirement?

PAT testing or portable appliance testing is the review and examination of electrical appliances to ensure that they are safe for use. These appliances can range from absolute office staples like kettles, to washing machines or any other goods you have in your managed spaces with a plug. 

At Marton Electrical, we use a testing machine to carry out a PAT test. Once the test has been completed, we will ensure that all items have a sticker placed on them to indicate that they have passed the test and on what date. We will also provide you with a certificate to state that the appliances in your location have been deemed satisfactory.

How often should pat testing be done?

There are no exact time frames written into regulations or laws stating how often appliances have to be PAT tested. But here at Marton Electrical, we would recommend that you have them tested annually, to ensure they are in safe and working condition.
